My Year By Design

The journey to living by design.

About Me

I like to call myself the Life By Design blogger in residence. I will deliver to you once or twice a week my stories of trying to live life by design. You’ll get to read about my struggles and victories and laugh at the various ways I manage to embarrass myself almost daily.

I am a high school teacher living with my husband and two cats. I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder in my thirties and I take medication and see a counselor to manage this. I have migraines and bruxism (teeth clenching at night). Other than that, I’m pretty healthy and happy. My goal is to be healthier and medication-free and I’m lucky enough to have a family and doctors that support me. I hope you enjoy my stories. Thank you for reading!

Art helps relieve anxiety – I’m sure you’ve discovered its special value. I give private children’s art lessons and several of my little students have anxiety too
I hope you’re managing well – it appears so ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thank you so much! Yes the wedding was in March and my husband and I are very happy.

I have been returning to art as a way to battle anxiety and it is helping. I am so glad you are using it with your students. I try to work some art into my English classes but I’m always looking for new ways to allow my students creative freedom!

      • I’m so glad to hear – Official congrats then!
I’ve been married 22 years and it has and is terrific. I always tell those that ask “I don’t feel married, I feel like like I get to hang out with my dearest and most intimate friend everyday”
I substitute teach as well – all subjects – and I wish it could always be art ๐Ÿ™‚
I was an art director for many years for an educational publisher – many of my books are in the high school I sub in – I always get such a kick out of seeing my old friends there ๐Ÿ™‚
